A Day in Archaeology

Have you ever wondered what archaeologists really do? Do they just dig or are there other aspects to their work? A Day in Archaeology showcases “a day in the life” of archaeologists from all over the UK and this year’s event will be taking place on Thursday 29 July 2021.

In this section you will find a wealth of blogs from archaeologists, heritage professionals, students and volunteers talking about a day in their life. You might be surprised to see just how many opportunities there are to get involved in archaeology from fieldwork to the science lab, museums to building sites, the possibilities are endless. Our contributors will also share the paths they took to get to where they are now. Find out how their careers developed, why they chose to study archaeology or how they got involved in volunteering.

Blog posts are uploaded throughout A Day In Archaeology and stay on the Festival website site all year round to form a developing resource for anyone interested in a career in archaeology or wanting to find out more about the range of opportunities to participate.

We invite professional and volunteer archaeologists and students to submit blogs as part of A Day in Archaeology, it’s easy to register and take part and we want to bring together as many stories and experiences from across the archaeology and heritage sector as possible to highlight just how diverse and interesting archaeology is. Visit our registration page to sign up.
