Aromatherapy Awareness Week
Educating the Public About the Benefits of Aromatherapy
The International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA), hold an annual campaign that aims to raise awareness of the benefits of aromatherapy. It is held in the second week of June.
What is Aromatherapy?
For those who don’t already know, aromatherapy is using essential oils and plant extracts to treat a variety of different conditions. It can be used to bring harmony to a person’s mind, body and soul. The oils can be used for massaging, in creams, lotions and oils for applying to your body, in baths, steam inhalation, aromatic spritzers, diffusions and inhalations.
What Happens During Aromatherapy Awareness Week?
Activities will be organised throughout the week, across the UK. Aromatherapists, individuals and companies will organise the events to highlight the important role aromatherapy can play in the management of our health. Look out for events in your area. Supporters will also be tweeting and using other social media channels, organising fun runs and contacting the media and community organisations.
In previous years, there have been exhibitions in community centres and doctors surgeries. Discounts have also been available for anyone trying aromatherapy treatments for the first time.
Support packs are available from the IFA, for anyone who wants to organise an event. These packs are designed to provide members with the confidence they need when contacting the press and media.
