Raising Awareness of Food Allergies Food Allergy Awareness Week, Food Allergy Awareness Week is an initiative created by FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education). The aim of this week is to raise awareness of different food allergies and improve public understanding of what can sometimes be a life-threatening condition.

What is FARE?

FARE is one of the world’s largest not for profit organisations that specialises in raising awareness of food allergies, educating, researching and providing relevant information. It was founded in 1991, by a mother whose daughter had recently been diagnosed with a milk and egg allergy. It began its Food Allergy Awareness Week in 1998.

It calls on people to take action and make an impact, on behalf of the millions of people around the world that suffer with food allergies.

It’s possible to shed light on the subject of allergies in a number of other ways. Why not contact a media outlet and tell your own personal story? Ask officials to officially recognise Food Allergy Awareness Week. Take the issue of allergies into your child’s classroom and give a presentation. There are plenty of resources available online.
