It is surrounded by controversy, with bumper stickers featuring slogans such as “Skateboarding isn’t a Crime”. Skateboarding is a great sport to learn if you have never tried it. Go Skateboarding Day offers the chance to skate with them if they aren’t beating you.

Skateboarding has a long history. It started with wooden boxes and wooden boards with wheels. They were originally made from Crate Scooters. These were wheels attached to wooden boxes with basic handlebars. It had become an integral part of surf culture by the 1950’s. Skaters were quick to adopt the culture.

Skateboarding saw a significant change in 1960s when it gained a wider following. John Steverson referred to this period as the “first competition.”
