International Childfree Day

International Childfree Day

International Childfree Day’s roots are in an event that was held by the National Organization for Non-Parents back in the 1970s. The winners were chosen by the National Organization for Non-Parents and paraded down 5th Avenue in New York. In honor of this event, International Childfree Day was established forty years later. The idea is to celebrate people who choose not to have children.

The Childfree Man of the Year and the Childfree Woman of the year are chosen to commemorate the day. Anyone can nominate someone to receive this award. You can find the details on how to submit your nomination online. A panel of judges will then select a male or female winner from all the applicants. These awards are made on the day, and the winners receive small prizes.
