Bingo is a national treasure and one of the most popular hobbies in the country – over 5 million people play bingo in the UK alone, with more than 100 million people playing online around the world and the bingo industry contributing more than £1 billion to the UK economy – more than Netflix and Spotify combined. Hence we are looking to dedicate a day for an all-inclusive, industry wide celebration for the love and popularity of the game.

National Bingo Day is currently only recognised and celebrated in the USA on 27th June. Mecca Bingo wishes to mark the occasion in the UK in its 60th year to be celebrated by the UK bingo industry on the same date. The bingo game we know and love today can be traced back to Italy in the 16th century, from around 1530, where it was called Il Gioco del Lotto d’Italia. It later became a favourite of the French aristocracy, where it was known as ‘Le Lotto’, before finally arriving on British shores in the 18th century.

Events and activities are planned to celebrate National Bingo Day in the UK which will all be announced early next year, however, initial campaign details include:
