National Buy a Book Day

National Buy a Book Day

These days, TV and movies are a major part of our daily lives. It’s not that certain TV shows and movies are a waste of time. There are many thought-provoking, well-made things to watch. Kindle makes it infinitely easier to carry multiple books at once. It is sad to see the traditional art of reading a paper book disappearing into the past. Sometimes it seems that children don’t even recognize the smell of an old book. This book has touched so many lives and it is wonderful to curl up on the couch with a book and escape into the world it creates. National Buy a Book Day was established to remind people of the joy that simple black print on a background can bring.

National Buy a Book Day was established in 2012 to raise awareness about the importance books have to civilisation and culture as a whole. Books have been a major contributor to the development of humanity. They are able to move the hearts of people over time, stimulate their imaginations, and help them see the world differently. Books also serve the vital, but simple, purpose of passing on knowledge from generation to generation. National Buy a Book Day was created to encourage people to take a moment and appreciate books for their many roles in human experience.

This day can be celebrated by doing what the creators intended: buying a book. National Buy a Book Day doesn’t require you to spend a lot of money. To enjoy it fully, you only need to invest a little money in a book first-hand or second-hand. Then you can absorb all the wisdom and knowledge in the book.

Even if you haven‚Äôt read a book in years, you will be surprised at how quickly you can be drawn in to a well-written book. You will feel as part of the story, as the characters. Don’t let anyone fool you into believing that only books written hundreds of centuries ago are worth reading. There are many modern authors who write masterpieces every year.

Daniel Woodrell wrote “Winter’s Bone”, a highly acclaimed novel that is praised and admired by many. It was later made into a film starring Jennifer Lawrence. J.K. Rowling is the author of Harry Potter. She has been called one of Britain’s most influential women for the number of teenagers and children she helped to love reading.

It doesn’t matter if you love the classics or modern literature, or if you have the means to purchase a new hardcover or a softcover book at your local thrift shop. You can still celebrate National Buy a Book Day.
