National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
Since 1999 March has been recognised as National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in the USA.
The Prevent Cancer foundation, working with legislators, the American Digestive Health Foundation and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, led the way to ensure the month became official designation with a declaration by the U.S. Senate, followed shortly by a resolution of the House of Representatives and an official proclamation by the White House.
With much publicity every year, the most important message of the month is that Colorectal Cancer is PREVENTABLE, TREATABLE & BEATABLE.
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosis among men and women combined in the United States. There is currently no cure, but it’s 90 percent treatable if caught early with a screening.
There is a huge amount of information available about this disease, support available and initiatives to raise awareness so find out more and support this cause.
