National Deck Safety Month
Your deck could be your pride and joy, complete with beautiful outdoor furniture and colorful plants. This deck can be used all year as a refuge from the rain or as a place to relax when it is stormy.
A deck that looks great can be a beautiful thing. However, it is important to ensure safety when using these planks of wood. This is especially true if you have young children.
National Deck Safety Month is here to remind people who have made the decision to have a deck added to their home that it is safe for them and their family.
The North American Deck and Railing Association created this awareness month, but their safety messages are intended to be heard around the globe.
The Association’s goal is to bring awareness to small details that might be overlooked during regular, daily maintenance of a deck.
The NADRA encourages homeowners to check that certain decking floors have been properly attached. Also, ensure that any metal parts such as bolts or connectors are free from rust. NADRA wants to make sure deck owners are covered.
This month is the best month to fix those little things that you haven’t been able to do.
Your deck will last around 15 to 20 year, regardless of how well it was constructed. It can be very damaging to the wood and metal if it is exposed to the elements and rain for so long.
Even if yours isn’t particularly old, it might be worthwhile to check out the NADRA’s website just in case you are unsure.
You can make sure your deck is safe for years to come by following National Deck Safety Month.
