National Egg Day

Which came first: the chicken or the egg? We’re not really going to look for the answer to this mind blowing question! Instead, lets celebrate the humble egg on June 3rd, National Egg Day 2022!

The annual national celebration of the egg is believed to have started in 1921 in Washington State when a new highway that was to be used for the transportation of poultry and eggs was opened officially. A fledgling poultry and egg industry was emerging from the town of Winlock and some wise entrepreneurs capitalised on the opportunity to raise the profile of their industry and town by making the event an annual one. The town now holds and Egg Day Festival and crowns one lucky person the Egg Day Queen and Princess!

The day is preceded by National Egg Month in May, sponsored by the American Egg Board but we like the idea of supporting this small town in their celebrations and achievements in the egg industry. So, how can we celebrate? EAT THEM OF COURSE!

We all know that eggs are inexpensive source of protein and vitamin D. They are one of the healthiest foods you can find. And if you’re tired of usual fried eggs, try cooking them one of the many many other ways: scrambled, poached, boiled, sunny-side up eggs are to name a few.

Why not challenge yourself and see how many of your meals today you can make with eggs?

Cook you favorite eggs to Celebrate National Egg Day!
