We have found some interesting stuff for National Ice Cream Month, but we wanted to share our favorites with you!

The American Dairy association, President Ronald Reagan and Walter Dee Huddleston (a Senator from Kentucky) established National Ice Cream Month. The Ice Cream companies started publicizing the day and encouraging people to enjoy the cold delight every day during July, based on this extremely official declaration. Ice cream was created in Ancient Greece before refrigeration became a reality. Although the so-called “Ice Cream”, which was a mixture of fruit and snow honey, was extremely primitive, it was still a foundation for a long tradition.

In the 16th century, Catherine de’Medici introduced Ice Cream. Charles I of England was so impressed by this invention, one hundred years later, that he paid royal royalty to keep it secret. Ice cream became a royal prerogative and was utterly inaccessible for the common man. The 18th century was the first time that recorded recipes were created.

Truly Ice cream was once a treat only for the most distinguished of human beings. Now we can all enjoy it anytime of the year! National Ice Cream Month encourages us all to indulge in July!
