National Kickball Day

National Kickball Day

Kickball has been a favorite playground sport since the early 1900’s. Kickball was originally called “Kick Baseball”. It was first used by physical educators to teach children basic baseball skills. The game is played on a field with three bases, a pitcher’s mound and a home plate.

Two teams can compete for runs, just like in softball or baseball. They kick a rubber ball and run around the bases trying to score runs. The winner of the game is the team that has scored the most runs. It is an easy sport to play that is also fun, so it is no surprise that it is growing in popularity among both adults and children.

National Kickball Day was created to bring together kickball enthusiasts of all ages. WAKA Kickball & Social Sports, the nation’s premier social sports and events company, launched National Kickball Day. They run kickball leagues that reach thousands of Americans each year. National Kickball Day is a great excuse to get out and enjoy your childhood games or to discover new ways to exercise.

Kickball Day is celebrated by visiting kickball.com. Here you can find the official rules and get 20 of your friends or coworkers to set up a field for a game. Register to play at kickball.com to join any of WAKA’s leagues.

To all kickball lovers around the globe, grab a soccer ball, get together with your friends, and enjoy your favorite sport!
