National Lipstick Day

National Lipstick Day

Rarely has such controversy been surrounded by such a small tube. National Lipstick Day celebrates the remarkable and brilliantly glossy survival of this tiny stick of colour, which has been sometimes equated with a deadly stick of dynamite.

Lipstick has been a constant companion to the lips, whether it’s adding seductive appeal to a pout or writing a meaningful message on a bathroom mirror.

Sarah Bernhardt caused a scandal by using lip rouge in public. Queen Victoria thought it was very impolite to use makeup on women.

Winston Churchill, however, found lipstick to be a great morale booster. He refused to reduce its production during WW11. He seems to have shared the secrets women (and some guys) have known for at most 5,000 years. Lipstick is a colour that adds character to a person’s personality. So show your best and make National Lipstick Day an unforgettable, spectacularly colorful event.
