National Military Appreciation Month

National Military Appreciation Month

Each May, Nationally Military Appreciation Month falls. This observance, as the name suggests, is intended to increase awareness and encourage celebration of and appreciation for those who serve and have served in the armed forces.

This month honors every role in the military branches, from the foot soldier to a navy chef to the Air Force navigator and the Army general. This month is also intended to recognize the servicemen and women’s families, who support and stand beside their loved ones.

National Military Appreciation month also remembers military personnel who gave their lives in defense of their country and war veterans who have since passed away.

In 1999, the United States Congress chose May as National Miliary Appreciation month. This was an attempt to give the public a chance thank service personnel and their families for their hard work.

National Military Appreciation month has been an American citizen’s favorite and most important month since its inception. Each year, the President gives a proclamation.

Each year, the President gives a proclamation to honor the armed forces. It is a reminder of their significant contribution to the country’s history and growth. This month was chosen because there are only a few military-specific observances days in May.

This month’s important military dates include the commemoration on VE Day. It marked the end of World War Two in 1946. You should also be aware of Armed Forces Day.

This month is a great time to review your country’s military history and to find out what makes an armed forces unit function so well. This month is the perfect opportunity to find out about all the positions within the military.

If you’re a veteran of the military, past or present, it is important to research major events in your local area. This will help you recognize what you have done for our country. As a token of appreciation, many companies offer discounts during this month.

Donate to veterans charities even if you don’t serve in the military.
