National Novel Writing Month

National Novel Writing Month

Each of us has our own stories to tell and we are all full of stories. But we don’t seem to have the time or energy to put them into action. There is always too much to do, there isn‚Äôt enough time, or the story isn‚Äôt there.

These thoughts are the reason why so many of the most important books in history were never written. Procrastination is the greatest killer of artistic expression. National Novel Writing Month (also known as NaNoWriMo) is your chance to unleash your inner storyteller!

National Novel Writing Month puts an end to excuses and encourages everyone to use this month to learn the art of storytelling. It’s a daunting goal to write 50,000 words in a month. But, it’s only 1700 words per day over the course of 30 days. This article is three times longer!

NaNoWriMo began in 1999. It was called July back then. The heart of NaNoWriMo’s success was San Francisco. In 1999, there were just 21 participants. They were part of a revolution but not the revolution they imagined. 15 years later, thousands of people around the globe are taking part in this extraordinary event. It has produced a wealth of creative expression that is unlike anything the world’s ever seen.

NaNoWriMo is a vibrant and supportive community that loves to get together digitally and physically to support one another and provide encouragement and inspiration for the creative endeavor. NaNoWriMo is a global phenomenon that takes over schools, coffee shops, libraries and homes all around the globe. To get started, you can visit to find a local “write in” near you.

Writing is the main purpose of NaNoWriMo, regardless of whether you are joining these people. Get an idea in your head, start writing, and aim to write 1700 words per day for the month of November. Do not worry about editing, revising, or other tedious tasks that come with finishing a novel. All of these things can be left until you are done. Now, the goal is to have 50,000 words on the page by end of month.

You can’t afford to let November pass without implementing your best idea or making it a reality.
