National Pokemon Day
Celebrate National Pokemon Day with us!
This day marks the 20th anniversary of the Japanese release Pokemon Red and Green. It is a favourite for fans of this franchise. Game Freak developed the game and Nintendo released it to play on the Game Boy. The game features collectible pocket monsters. It was released first in Japan under the names “Pocket Monsters: Red”, and “Pocket Monsters: Green”, respectively. Later in the year, “Pocket Monsters: Blue” was released.
The Pokemon Company seems to always have plenty of treats for National Pokemon Day celebrations – from Snapchat filters to figurines, and everything in between!
The Pokemon Company introduced several new products and features in 2018 for its annual holiday. This included the U.S. release “Pikachu Talk” for Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home devices.
The company also teamed up with Snapchat to create three new Snapchat lenses that featured the Pokemon Bulbasaur and Charmander. Bulbasaur, Charizard, and Squirtle were the first to be released. Each lens has a Pokemon in the bottom corner, with a halo effect around the Snapchatter’s head.
The company set up a voting system for the “Pokemon of the year”, which allowed fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite characters in each category. Greninja was the overall winner, with the Charizard winning from the Kanto region, and Johto winning from the Umbreon.
In 2021, excited fans wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the game. The events included a virtual concert featuring Post Malone, special PokemonTV programs in Los Angeles, California and the release of Pokemon Snap, a Nintendo Switch game.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Pokemon, the Pok√©mon franchise has teamed up to produce a special line of 90’s inspired clothing, including denim jackets, jeans shorts, hoodies and t-shirts inspired by the Pokemon characters.
This day offers many chances for fun and enjoyment, no matter if you are a long-time fan or a newbie to the world of Pokemon. These are some ideas to celebrate National Pokemon Day. You can also create your own celebrations!
Invite your friends to join you for a National Pokemon Day Party. There will be tons of Ash Ketchum and Pikachu adventures. Get your Nintendo Switch gaming system hooked up and have fun with friends. Make sure everyone dresses up as their favorite character in the game.
The party’s decorations and snacks should be Pokemon-themed. Other than playing Pokemon video games with your kids, you can also have them play Pin the Tail on the Pikachu or make a papercraft of Pikachu ears. There is so much to do!
Fun culinary adventures can be enjoyed in honor of the day, whether you are hosting a party or simply bringing some snacks into work. You can make food and snacks that are inspired by the Pokemon characters.
Play Pokemon Go
Although it was a huge trend in 2016, Pokemon Go is still a great game that can be played alone or with friends. You can play this simplified version of the game as an app on your smartphone. Even though there’s not as much buzz about the game these days, it’s still ranked among the top mobile games worldwide and live events are sometimes held (e.g. Go Fest.
As players go out in search of rare and special characters, the game evolves and offers new adventures. You can trade Pokemon items with your friends, regardless of whether you are playing against them or working with them. Many people love the ability to dress up their avatars with costumes.
It doesn’t matter what generation a Pokemon fan was born in, or which starter Pokemon inspired someone to go on their first adventure. All can be celebrated and appreciated on National Pokemon Day!
