National Read Across America Day

National Read Across America Day

Most people learn to read as children. It is possible to learn to love reading at any age. National Read Across America Day is a great opportunity to discover the joy of reading.

With the advent of technology, there are many ways to read. It is easy to take a book wherever you go because you can access it via the internet. Some people love the tactile feel of a book and prefer to hold it in their hands. Grab your favorite book and enjoy reading!

Since 1998, National Read Across America Day has been sponsored by the National Education Association (NEA). The NEA works to improve public education. Through events in libraries, schools, and communities across the country, they have worked to promote reading. Teachers and group organizers can also take a pledge to allow their plans on the NEA website. This will hopefully draw more attention to the event and increase attendance.

Not only are teachers and librarians helping to create a new generation of book lovers, but also celebrities. Actors, sports stars, and other celebrities have volunteered to read to students since 1998 and helped bring attention to this worthy cause.

This holiday is one of the most simple to celebrate. This holiday doesn’t require you to go to a lot of stores, have lots of guests or spend a lot of money. You just need to pick up a book, and start reading! It’s up to you how and where you do this. You might think of relaxing in a warm bubble bath, in a hammock, or snuggling up with your pet in a comfortable chair. Try something more public, such as going to your favorite bookstore or coffee shop.

Share your favorite books with children if you have them. It’s a great way to share your childhood memories and how you got started reading. Even if they don’t understand, it is never too late to read to them. Reading to children helps develop language skills and vocabulary.

A book club is another way to celebrate. Get together with other readers and have fun! Book clubs are a great way not only to make new friends, but also to share your passion for reading. Book clubs can be enjoyed by all ages, and even young adults can benefit from having a group of people to discuss their favorite books.
