We are all part of a larger society, no matter where we live or what we do. A social security system is the best indicator of our collective well-being. This is why National Social Security Day should be celebrated.

There are times when it is possible to fall on hard times or need some assistance. This is why support systems exist. It’s a good idea to remember the less fortunate members of society, and to do something for them.

One good idea is to cook a traybake, or large stew, and then take it to a soup kitchen. Volunteering to work in the same kitchen is another good idea. You can send your children to help a neighbor who is infirm or elderly, or hold a yard sale with the intention of donating the money to a charity that helps the homeless. Have fun and be generous.
