National Welsh Rarebit Day
Welsh Rarebit, a cousin to cheese on bread, is well-known throughout Europe. It’s made with cheese and ale sauce and celebrated every National Welsh Rarebit Day.
Although nobody knows the exact origin of this name, it is generally thought to be a joke at the expense the early poor of Wales who may have largely survived on rabbit and ale (though we aren’t sure how this relates to cheese on bread).
