National Yo-Yo Day

National Yo-Yo Day

On the 6th of June, National Yo-Yo Day takes place. This coincides with Donald Duncan Sr’s birthday, who was a famous entrepreneur in the 1930s and started the yoyo business.

Yo-yos were around for 2,000 years. They were also known by different names, such as quizzes and bandalores. However, the Philippines is believed to be the source of the yoyo. The earliest recorded entry of the word in a Filipino dictionary was in the early 1860s.

Pedro Flores, a Filipino-American man, began making yo yos in America in the 1920s. The reaction of American children and teenagers to the toy amazed Flores, who began mass-producing the product. The yo-yo is a staple of toy culture around the world.

You could celebrate this event by throwing a Yo Yo-Yo party where everyone brings a unique yoyo. You could also host a Yo-Yo Olympics where you can award specific prizes based on yo-yo.
