Revenge of the Fifth
Have you had enough Star Wars since May 4th? Are you thinking of moving to the Dark Side. You think you could be a great Sith! Keep swinging your lightsabers! Revenge of the fifth has another Star Wars-themed event!
Some fans think that “Revenge of the Sixth” would make more sense, since the number sounds more like “sith”, but it’s the fifth that has remained constant since it was the day after the fourth. For those who love Star Wars, this double-day celebration is a great way to celebrate!
“May the force be with You” is one of the most beloved, most quoted and loved movie quotes. It’s likely you’ve heard it before, even if you haven’t seen the films.
Star Wars Day was created by the movie-loving community after they saw the joke behind May 4th sounding very similar to the first part of the famous quote. Revenge of the Sith is a Star Wars film that sounds very similar to the fifth. It’s sort of.
Revenge of the Fifth, which occurs immediately after Star Wars Day is, is intended to allow fans to move over to the Dark Side for at least one day. Star Wars geeks today will celebrate the Sith Lords of the long-running franchise. Because bad guys need love too!
An advertiser published in a London newspaper, 1979, was the first to use “May 4th be with You”. Although it was a reference to Star Wars, it was actually a humorous congratulatory note for Margaret Thatcher. She had won her first election, which just so happened to be on May 4th.
As you can see, however, this wasn’t the first time that someone made that reference in public. In various political debates and advertisements, the catchphrase was used again and again. In 1994, for example, there was a mention of May the Fourth Be with You in a parliamentary debate. There were also references to it in popular publications like the book The Science of Star Wars, written by Jeanne Cavelos, an astrophysicist. Boris Johnson and other political figures have also publicly celebrated Star Wars.
However, Revenge of the Fifth was not introduced to the public’s consciousness during the first trilogy of films. Star Wars was the original name of the saga’s first film. However, it was later renamed Star Wars: A New Hope in order to fit with the rest. The Empire Strikes Back was the next film, followed by Return of the Jedi in 1983.
These titles did not mention “the revenge of sith” nor did any characters use the phrase in the original trilogy. It was not in the script.
The term was first used after the release of the second trilogy. Revenge of the Sith, Episode III according the Star Wars timeline, hit theaters in 2005. Pop culture references to “Revenge of the Fifth”, however, are much more recent than May the Fourth.
According to reports, Revenge of the Fifth was first created after the Star Wars Day in Toronto in 2011. It was held at the Toronto Underground Cinema. Fans came up with the idea of “Revenge of the Fifth” in order to extend the holiday.
It is a bit unfortunate that the celebration falls on Cinco de Mayo in Mexico, when the country celebrates its victory against the French in 1862. Star Wars fans think Revenge of the Sixth is more fitting. It also gives Star Wars fans an extra day to indulge in Star Wars madness.
Today is the day to celebrate George Lucas’s most popular film franchise. After the excitement of May 4th, you can now celebrate the Dark Side at the many conventions around the globe, meet like-minded people, and watch your favorite films.
This is the perfect day to get some popcorn and relax on the couch while you watch all of Star Wars films. If you have Tatooine-loving pals, don’t get into a fight about who shot the first.
You can also celebrate the occasion by reading Star Wars lore. These are just a few of the many events that take place in the Star Wars films. George Lucas created a vast universe that spans thousands of years and countless planets. Episode I is not the beginning of the Jedi/Sith saga. This war had been going on for thousands of years.
