Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day USA

Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day USA

For many Trigeminal Neuralgia will not be a familiar condition. It for that purpose that today, October 7th, is recognized as Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) Awareness Day.

October 7th is the day that sufferers of TN, their friends and family join forces to educate people about symptoms and the challenges they face, raise awareness of the condition and raise money for research and support organizations.

So what is TN?

TN is pain linked to the trigeminal nerve which can be felt in many parts of your face; lips, eyes, nose, scalp, forehead, upper jaw and/or lower jaw. The types of pain experienced can differ from patient to patient but is persistent. Fortunately this painful condition is relatively rare affecting 4.3 per 100,000 people per year.

Fore more information about symptoms and treatment please visit the dedicated website.

TN Awareness Day has a fantastic team behind its campaign, with lots of suggestions to help you organize events and raise awareness. Some suggestions include:

Encourage friends and family to wear something teal.

Submit an application to turn a building or monument in your town teal on October 7th

Educate! Many dentists, doctors, and nurses are not familiar with trigeminal neuralgia. Offer to provide information

Share your story! Sharing with friends, family, and colleagues can be scary but it may help them understand you and the battles you face each day.

We hope you can help to raise awareness of this painful condition.
