U.S. Coast Guard Birthday
The U.S. Coast Guard Birthday honors the brave work of coast guardsmen. The US Coast Guard saved 33,500 lives when Hurricane Katrina hit the Atlantic coast of America. An estimated 24,000 were saved from danger by the Coast Guardsmen.
There are many events across America that you can get involved with and support. The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution), a charity with the sole purpose of rescuing people in distress at sea, is not associated with HM Coast Guard. They have saved more than 134,000 lives and launched over 6500 times per year since their inception.
On September 8, the Pakistan Coast Guard Day will be celebrated.
