
World Nursery Rhyme Week
Launched in 2013, World Nursery Rhyme Week promotes the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood development and education. Open to early years educators and parents around the world, all resources are provided free of charge.
Who can take part? Parents, Primary Schools, Kindergartens, Elementary Schools, Preschools, Nurseries, Childminders, Daycare, Speech and Language Therapists, Librarians, Grandparents – anybody who works with, or has a child under the age of 7 can get involved. World Nursery Rhyme Week is a global initiative and over 100 countries take part each year.
Nursery rhymes are wonderful teaching tools and can help to boost early literacy skills, language development, early numeracy and social, physical and emotional skills. Our 5 chosen nursery rhymes for 2020 were: Wheels On The Bus, Five Little Speckled Frogs, Hickory Dickory Dock, Old MacDonald Had A Farm and Miss Polly Had A Dolly.
